Job Description
We are seeking an experienced Senior IT Network and Infrastructure Engineer to lead and optimise our organisation's network infrastructure. The successful candidate will be responsible for designing, implementing, and maintaining complex network solutions to ensure high availability, security, and performance. Responsibilities
* Design, implement and maintain enterprise‑level network architecture, including LAN, WAN, WLAN and VPN.
* Ensure high availability, performance and scalability of network services.
* Troubleshoot and resolve complex network issues across multiple environments.
* Configure and manage network hardware such as routers, switches, firewalls and load balancers.
* Lead network upgrades, migrations and infrastructure improvement projects.
* Implement and support secure remote access solutions using VPN, IPsec, SSL/TLS and SSH protocols.
* Implement and enforce network security best practices and policies.
* Manage network security measures such as firewall rules, IDS/IPS, encryption and PKI to safeguard organisational data.
* Monitor network performance, capacity and security using appropriate tools and perform troubleshooting where necessary to improve network health.
* Collaborate with infrastructure, security and application teams to support business requirements.
* Support disaster recovery and business continuity planning related to network services.
* Conduct regular system updates, patch management and configuration backups in accordance with best practices.
* Develop detailed documentation for network configurations, procedures and disaster recovery plans.
* Provide technical guidance and mentoring to junior network engineers.
* Participate in on‑call support and incident response as required.
Experience
* Proven experience in designing, implementing and managing large‑scale networks within enterprise environments.
* Extensive knowledge of routing protocols and network protocols (TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, NFS).
* Strong background in network security including experience with firewalls, VPNs and encryption standards.
* Hands‑on experience with virtualisation platforms such as VMware vSphere or similar technologies; familiarity with containerisation is advantageous.
* Proficiency in operating systems including Windows Server.
* Certifications such as CCNP/CCIE, JNCIP or equivalent are highly regarded; familiarity with ITIL framework is beneficial.
