Job Summary
We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Distribution Manager to oversee our logistics and supply chain operations. The ideal candidate will possess strong leadership and organisational skills, ensuring efficient distribution processes while maintaining high standards of customer service. This role requires a proactive approach to managing resources, driving improvements, and fostering team collaboration.
Key Duties and Responsibilities of the position
* Plan and coordinate transport and distribution operations to meet customer and business needs.
* Manage fleet operations — scheduling, maintenance, route optimisation, and compliance.
* Supervise staff including drivers, warehouse workers, and logistics coordinators.
* Ensure compliance with legal, safety, and environmental regulations.
* Monitor performance using KPIs (delivery times, cost per shipment, customer satisfaction).
* Control budgets and identify cost-saving opportunities.
* Negotiate with suppliers and third-party logistics providers.
* Resolve issues such as delivery delays, damaged goods, or route disruptions.
* Maintain records for audits, customs clearance, and operational tracking.
* Implement technology such as transport management systems (TMS) and GPS tracking.

Qualifications and Experience needed for the position
* Bachelor's degree in Logistics, Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, or a related field.
* Professional certification in transport or logistics (e.g., CILT – Chartered Institute of Logistics and Transport, CPC – Certificate of Professional Competence).
* Knowledge of transport legislation, health and safety regulations, and customs procedures.
* Several years (usually 3–5+ years) in transport, distribution, or logistics operations.
* Proven track record in managing teams (drivers, warehouse staff, planners).
* Experience in budgeting, cost control, and contract negotiation.
* Demonstrated ability to plan and coordinate complex delivery schedules.
* Desirable:
* Experience with international shipping, freight forwarding, and customs compliance.
* Work history involving process optimisation and technology implementation.
* Background in high-volume or fast-paced logistics environments.
* Postgraduate qualification in logistics or business management (e.g., MBA with a supply chain focus).
* Training in Lean Management, Six Sigma, or other process improvement methods.
* IT proficiency in Transport Management Systems (TMS), GPS tracking software, and ERP systems.

Pay: £30,000.00-£35,000.00 per year
