The Role
The post holder will support the Consultant Clinical Psychologist- Lead for Clydesdale PTT in the delivery of the service within the Clydesdale Adult Psychological Team (PTT).
The PTT exists to address the psychological needs of adults residing in the Lanarkshire area. As well as providing clinical assessment, formulation and intervention, the service has responsibilities for consultation, teaching and supervision.
As an 8B within the Clydesdale PTT the post-holder will, as a senior clinician, support the Lead Consultant within Clydesdale PTT. The post-holder will routinely undertake a role deputising for the Lead Consultant where required, at weekly referral allocation and MDT meetings with the CMHT; Locality team meetings; representing the service at various meetings; liaison with local referrers and delegated management responsibilities for staff, such as Turas appraisals, Job Planning and sickness absence management.
Clinical work will be at a level appropriate to the grade of this role; in addition to carrying a small individual clinical caseload (likely two to three sessions per week), which may include the delivery of group interventions
Please note this is a fixed term post for 12 months. Where a post only has temporary funding and an existing member of NHS Lanarkshire staff wishes to apply, this will be treated as a secondment. The employee MUST already have written agreement from their line manager to be released on a secondment before applying for the post.
In this key role, you will:
To provide a systematic and autonomous highly specialist psychological service to adults with highly complex and severe psychological difficulties, including assessment, diagnosis, formulation, and treatment.
To integrate complex, and often conflicting, psychological data obtained from assessment and draw from a range of psychological models and theoretical orientations (including, humanistic, psychodynamic, cognitive-behavioural, behavioural and behavioural family therapy) to formulate factors relevant to the onset, development and maintenance of the clients presenting problems.
To exercise full responsibility and autonomy for the treatment of and discharge of clients, ensuring that clinical practice is in accordance with NHS Lanarkshire, Health and Care Professions Council, and British Psychological Society guidelines.
To provide expert and specialist psychological advice, guidance and consultation to other professionals (Health Visitors, Psychiatric Nurses, Psychiatrists) regarding psychological assessment and intervention with clients.
What You'll Bring:
To have a post-graduate Doctoral Level (or equivalent) degree in Clinical or Counselling or Health Psychology and be registered with the Health and Care Professions Council as a Registered Clinical or Registered Counselling or Registered Health Psychologist.
To have significant experience in working with individuals, their family or carers, who experience complex and enduring mental health difficulties
To have significant experience in supporting, teaching and consultation with other mental health professionals working within psychological settings
To have proven ability to undertake formative and summative clinical assessments, and prepare reports demonstrating interpretation of findings
Have completed recognised formal training in supervision of applied psychologists
Have completed further courses of additional learning relevant to the clinical skills demanded by the post as identified in the Role Profile
