We are seeking a highly organised and motivated Systems Engineer Requirements to join our proactive and innovative team. This role provides holistic lifecycle Systems Engineering support to replenish activities within the customer's program. It requires a systems thinking mindset and the application of these methods, approaches, tools and techniques. Efforts are centred on the packaging of the containment systems. Transition to detailed design is planned for the end of January, and preparations are underway. Site requirements are currently fluid, with most team members working remotely.
Responsibilities
* Requirements
o System and sub-system requirement identification to link common requirements across PP&E projects via a requirements management tool (e.g., DOORS). Group requirements as Standard (Common) or Project Specific (non-Common) to reduce duplication and measure/manage PP&E standardisation across live projects.
o Engage with end users to clarify and validate requirements through the design phase.
o Confirm that the proposed design meets user needs.
o Facilitate stakeholder workshops.
o Manage requirements using DOORS.
* System Concepts
o Projects may select different system solutions; Technical Leads ensure concept down selects consider opportunities for single, standardised solutions across projects.
o Tools used (Functional Means Analysis, N2 Analysis, Whole System Solution Identification, Decision Matrix, Pugh Matrix) should prioritise standardisation.
o Produce optioneering reports to evaluate design concepts.
o Define processes for design validation and requirement extraction.
o Develop equipment specification documents for suppliers (e.g., ventilation systems, environmental monitoring systems).
* System Design
o Champion principles of standardisation: reduce model diversity, reuse technical information, maximise common sub-systems, limit types/assemblies, maximise use of COTS items or MOTS when COTS would be non-compliant.
* Detail Design
o Use PLM and configuration control to compare solutions and identify areas of standardisation across projects.
* Evolution of Design
o Seek to reduce diversity of supplied equipment and champion standardisation during design revisits; focus on standardisation for future offers/programs.
Qualifications
* BEng or equivalent in relevant engineering discipline (Electronic Engineering, Electrical and Electronic, or Communications).
Essential Skills
* Systems Engineering
o Requirements and Use Case analysis
o Concept assessment and design trade studies
o System architecture design and functional modelling
o Performance assessment and systems behavior analysis
o Test cases, test scripts, capture of test evidence
* Familiarisation with DOORS Requirements Management software
* Practitioner in Determining and Managing Stakeholder Requirements, Life Cycle Tailoring, Verification, Validation and Transition to Operation
* Good understanding of cross-domain and cross-boundary requirements and interfaces
Desired Skills
* Familiarisation with Product Lifecycle Management software
Experience
* Experience in the Nuclear or Civil Engineering industries and experience in both hardware and software engineering lifecycles is beneficial but not essential.
