The Shrewsbury and Telford Hospital NHS Trust is seeking a Specialist in Haematology who is looking to work towards their Portfolio Pathway and join our growing team, predominantly based at the Royal Shrewsbury Hospital with responsibilities across both hospitals’ sites including The Princess Royal Hospital, Telford.
The Specialist Doctor role will predominantly entail out-patient based care for new and follow up haematology patients, incorporating both malignant & general Haematology. However, the workforce is increasingly sub-specialised at medical & nursing level, which will also be welcomed for the new appointee upon discussion.
Main duties of the job
* Expected to cover the Haematology Day Unit and Assessment Bay Area, seeing and assessing unwell patients.
* Providing support for the junior ward doctors
* Working closely with the clinical nurse specialists
* Supporting outpatient clinics
* Undertake Laboratory duties
* To develop enhances clinical skills and management of acutely ill patients.
* To develop enhanced clinical skills, especially in the assessment and management of acutely ill patients
* To have excellent team-working skills with the abilities and professional attitude to work well in a multi-professional team
* To deliver clinical and quality targets agreed both nationally and locally with clinical teams and commissioners
* To follow patients throughout their clinical pathways

The Shrewsbury and Telford Hospital NHS Trust (SaTH) is the main provider of acute hospital services for around half a million people in Shropshire, Telford & Wrekin and mid Wales.

Together they provide 99% of our activity. Both hospitals provide a wide range of acute hospital services including accident & emergency, outpatients, diagnostics, inpatient medical care and critical care.
