Teacher / Practitioner (Developmental Post)

You will be offered a bespoke development programme, based on your existing knowledge & skills, with protected learning time & support to access training, study opportunities and qualification pathways required for a Teacher Practitioner Role.This new role provides the opportunity to enhance the delivery of palliative and end of life care in both practice and theory for yourself & others, promoting evidence-based practice internally and externally, whilst supporting your own career development.What we are looking for: This role is ideally suited to a Registered Nurse who has been qualified and practicing for at least 12 months. Someone who has an interest in palliative care and a passion for learning, teaching, and sharing knowledge to support others development and improve patient care.If you are motivated, willing & able to continue with professional academic studies & would like to establish a new career in healthcare where you are enabled to make a difference, wed love to meet you!

We are looking for a Full Time hours (37.5 hours per week) but Part Time of 30 hours per week would be considered.


Main duties of the job

St Michaels Hospice has a dynamic Education team offering a variety of internal and external training opportunities to a wide audience. They bring a wealth of experience and specialist skills and are now looking for a motivated and enthusiastic Registered Nurse to join the team in a new Teacher Practitioner Development Post role.This is an exciting opportunity for an individual who has at least 12 months post registration clinical experience, with a passion for working within Palliative Care to join a supportive team and develop the required skills to commence a career in Clinical Practice education.

Job responsibilities

Job title: Teacher/Practitioner (Developmental Post )Spinal Point Range: 13,15,18Hours: 37.5 hours per week (Min 30 Hours per week).Department: EducationLocation: St Michaels Hospice, Bartestree and other locations as necessaryReports to: Lead Teacher/PractitionerFinancial Responsibility: No direct financial responsibilitiesJob Purpose: To develop and apply the skills required to educate, train, and support both clinical and non-clinical staff. To enhance the quality of palliative and end-of-life care delivery through the promotion of evidence-based practice internally and externally. To actively engage in and successfully complete a structured development programme to support progression to a Teacher Practitioner role.Responsibility Areas:Service DeliveryAssist with the delivery of academic and vocational teaching across a range of palliative care topics including assessment of learners.Assist with the identification & support of staff in the clinical setting with their on-going CPD includes internal & external students.Assist with the development of learning materials and facilitation of learning with a wide range of individuals and groups internal and external.Contributes to the effectiveness of work experience programmesContributes to operation of library & stock renewalSupports with the Leading, management & delivery of functional skills training in line with National Numeracy & BKSB (Health Education England)Assisting Teacher Practitioner with Volunteer librarian (x1) In- house students (TNA / RNDA & others) (x 2-6)PlanningAssists with the planning and managing of the annual programme of education.Develops the ability to plan learning and teaching activities linked to service delivery needs.Develops the ability to plan, cost and deliver tailor-made training to a variety of external organisations & individualsDevelops the ability to assist with planning individualised induction and on-going training requirements for clinical & non-clinical staff & volunteersCommunicationDevelops the skills to represents the organisation externally e.g. Higher Education, care homes; care agencies, NHS Trusts, wider hospice movement, health and social care education focus groups.Works collaboratively with colleagues to ensure work streams complement each other.Develops & shares evidence-based knowledge and skills internally and externally which may result in influencing and changing practice to achieve desired outcomesProblem Solving and InnovationDevelops resources and strategies for promotion of best practice.Develops the skills to respond to internal & external requests for clinical support & adviceEnsures learning and teaching is based on appropriate evidence base linked to regulatory frameworks e.g. National Institute for Clinical Effectiveness; Nursing & Midwifery Council; Allied Health Professions Council; General Medical Council; Care Quality Commission.Contributes to the development of new learning programmesContributes to the development of clinical policies and care plansEducationCompletion of all mandatory training required for roleCommitment to complete a Development Plan personalised to meet the desirable elements outlined below.Person Specification1) Specialist Knowledge and ExperienceEssentialProfessional Nursing Registration with NMCRelevant 1st level degree as minimum qualificationRegistered Nursing care experience in a clinical care setting for at least 1 yearDesirable or willingness to work towards:NVQ Assessor qualification or equivalentMentoring & Assessor qualificationTeaching qualification (Post Graduate Certificate of Education or equivalent)IT Skills across a range of IT SoftwarePhilosophies & Principles of Palliative Care - ability to share at a variety of levels.Leadership & Management or Coaching qualification.MSc level qualification in a relevant subjectFacilitating Clinical Skills & Simulation Training.Facilitating Advanced Communication Skills.2) Skills and BehavioursLeadership: motivates & empowers others in order to reach organisational goals.Communication: Speaks confidently and fluently. Qualifications

* Professional Nursing Registration with NMC
* Relevant 1st level degree as minimum qualification
* NVQ Assessor qualification or equivalent
* Teaching qualification (Post Graduate Certificate of Education or equivalent)
* Leadership & Management or Coaching qualification.
* Facilitating Clinical Skills & Simulation Training.


Experience

* Registered Nursing care experience in a clinical care setting for at least 1 year
* Philosophies & Principles of Palliative Care - ability to share at a variety of levels.
* Facilitating Clinical Skills & Simulation Training.
* Facilitating Advanced Communication Skills.
