Overview

A Vacancy at University Hospitals of Derby and Burton NHS Foundation Trust.

An exciting opportunity has arisen within the Respiratory and Sleep Physiology team at UHDB for a senior respiratory physiologist. This role involves performing and reporting full lung function tests, CPAP initiation and follow up and analysing and interpreting sleep studies. As well as overseeing more junior staff in both respiratory and sleep investigations. Part of the role is to ensure the smooth running of respiratory diagnostic services across the UHDB sites including the community diagnostic centres. Training will be provided in more specialist areas of testing including non invasive ventilation (NIV).

We are looking for motivated individuals to join the respiratory physiology and sleep team. We have a great team, therefore experience of teamwork is essential to ensure the smooth running of services within respiratory and sleep physiology.


Responsibilities

* Perform and report full lung function tests.
* Initiate and follow up CPAP therapy and analyse/interprete sleep studies.
* Oversee more junior staff in respiratory and sleep investigations.
* Help ensure smooth running of respiratory diagnostic services across UHDB sites including community diagnostic centres.
* Collaborate with other physiologists to contribute to day-to-day service delivery and report to the managerial lead regularly.


Qualifications and Requirements

* BSc Hons Degree in Respiratory Physiology, or equivalent qualifications and experience.
* ARTP Practitioner qualification or ARTP Part 1/2 is essential.
* Ability to carry out the range of investigations and treatments in the job role competently and work independently, including lung function testing, sleep diagnostics and treatments.


Location and Development

The job will be based at Queens Hospital Burton with rotation across community hubs and other UHDB sites. Applicants who have recently qualified are welcome. UHDB offers a developmental Band 6 role if post-graduate experience to hit a senior level is not yet available, with support to develop skills in sleep study analysis, reporting junior colleagues’ lung function, as part of a Band 6 annex 21 developmental role. Further discussions about this could be had at interview if shortlisted.
