The project brings together partners including the National Trust, Teesside University, Durham University, Newcastle University, local authorities, and voluntary sector organisations to revitalise green spaces across Teesside, Gateshead and Durham.Your work will largely focus on Tees to Topping, a connected stretch of urban green spaces and natural habitats in South Tees, running from the River Tees through Middlesbrough towards the North York Moors.You will be employed by the National Trust, based at Ormesby Hall, while working day‑to‑day with colleagues and partners across the GCNE programme. This means you’ll enjoy all the benefits of being part of the National Trust, supportive teams, shared values, and a commitment to caring for nature, beauty and history, while also contributing to a dynamic, cross‑organisational project.You’ll work directly with communities, partners, academics and local organisations to design and deliver collaborative research and engagement activity focused on nature connection, environmental action, and creative approaches to placemaking.Your key responsibilities will include:Community & Stakeholder EngagementBuilding trusting relationships with community groups, residents, and partners.Planning and delivering engagement activity in South Tees, rooted in best‑practice community development.Acting as a key point of contact, sharing clear information about the project and associated funding opportunities.Supporting monitoring, evaluation, and reflection to capture learning and measure impact.Working closely with the National Trust’s existing community & participation teams to align activity with strategic priorities.Cross‑Partner CollaborationSupporting collaboration across the GCNE partnership, ensuring alignment and consistency in engagement approaches.Facilitating information‑sharing and knowledge exchange across the wider programme.Upholding research ethics and principles in all engagement activity.Governance, Compliance & Project ManagementEnsuring activity follows safeguarding, data protection and financial procedures.Supporting documentation, reporting, and strong record‑keeping.Helping manage budgets responsibly and efficiently.Contributing to team learning, continuous improvement, and long‑term project legacy.Your work will take place across nature‑rich urban spaces, with Ormesby Hall and Teesside University’s Middlesbrough campus as your regular working bases.The National Trust has the motto ‘For everyone, for ever’ at its heart.
