The Role
Our client is seeking a hands-on Project Manager with proven experience in the domestic solar sector to oversee their growing workload across Berkshire. You will be responsible for managing the end-to-end installation of solar PV systems on family homes, often alongside battery storage and EV charger installations. This is a client-facing role that requires a blend of technical understanding, logistical coordination, and a genuine commitment to delivering a five-star customer experience.
Key Responsibilities
* Project Coordination: Managing multiple residential solar installations simultaneously across Berkshire and the home counties, from initial survey through to final system handover. You will be responsible for scheduling, materials procurement, logistics, and ensuring every project stays on track and on budget.
* Client Management: Serving as the primary point of contact for homeowners throughout their installation journey. You will provide regular updates, explain technical details in plain English, manage expectations around scaffolding and installation dates, and ensure every client feels supported and informed from start to finish.
* Sub-contractor Management: Leading and coordinating on-site teams including installers, electricians, and scaffolding crews. You will ensure they have the correct information, designs, and materials to deliver a high standard of work efficiently and professionally.
* Technical Administration: Overseeing all project documentation, including technical reports, site plans, MCS certificates, and DNO applications (G98/G99). You will maintain accurate records using the company's CRM system and ensure all paperwork is completed correctly for handover to the customer.
* Compliance & Quality Assurance: Ensuring all installations fully comply with MCS standards, building regulations, and current health and safety requirements. You will carry out site inspections and final quality checks, identifying any snagging issues and ensuring they are resolved before signing off the project.
About You
Our client is looking for someone who already knows their way around a domestic solar installation. You will have a proven track record of delivering projects in the residential sector and be comfortable taking ownership of the entire installation process, while keeping the customer happy every step of the way.
* Experience: Minimum of 1-2+ years managing residential solar installation projects. You must be able to demonstrate a track record of successfully delivering domestic projects, ideally including battery storage systems.
* Technical Knowledge: A solid understanding of solar PV systems, roof types (pitched, tile, slate, flat), and typical installation challenges on period properties and modern homes alike. Familiarity with MCS guidelines and DNO application processes (G98/G99) is essential.
* Skills: Strong organisational abilities with the capacity to manage multiple projects and deadlines. You will have excellent communication and people skills, both for liaising with homeowners and coordinating trades. Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Excel) and CRM platforms is required.
* Location & Logistics: You will be based in or around Berkshire and comfortable travelling to sites across the home counties. A full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle are essential.
