The Anaesthetics and Surgical division includes emergency and elective surgery including specialities general surgery, breast, ENT, urology, orthopaedics, and ophthalmology. This is inclusive of theatres including day-case and the Critical Care department. The division also provides clinical services departments such as out-patient departments. This makes for a vast and varied division of services with a common focus of providing safe and effective patient care.
Here at Bolton, Critical Care has amalgamated its intensive care and high dependency units and is currently a 18 bedded unit caring for both level 3 and level 2 patients. These patients have a variety of different needs.
Responsibilities
* Join a motivated, hardworking team and provide compassionate patient-centred care in a Critical Care environment.
* Promote and lead the delivery of an excellent standard of patient-centred care within a supported MDT environment.
* Communicate effectively with patients, relatives and multidisciplinary team members; demonstrate passion, drive and clinical excellence.
* Support and participate in the induction and ongoing development of new and existing staff within the unit.
* Engage with learning and development aligned with national competency for critical care nurses and pursue extended clinical skills and competency within the multidisciplinary team (medical staff, outreach, physio, dietician, etc.).
Qualifications and experience
* Registered nurse with current registration.
* Experience in the acute or critical care setting is desirable, but we welcome applicants with a passion for excellence in quality and patient-centred care.
* Support for preceptorship and a supernumerary induction period, dependent on experience.
* Learning and development aligned with national competency for critical care nurses; opportunity to begin transferrable critical care qualification.
Employment terms and development
* Band 5 development package; supernumerary period during induction; shifts supported by an experienced team with a band 7/6 team leader on each shift.
* Practice-based educators and designated practice educator nurses to support competence and skills training.
* Comprehensive preceptorship package and ongoing support during each shift to facilitate safe learning and development.
