Consultant in Emergency Medicine (LTFT 70%)
We are looking to welcome a new colleague (LTFT 70%) to join an enthusiastic, motivated and supportive team of 18 Consultant Emergency Physicians dedicated to providing care that is patient‑centred, safe and clinically effective.
You will work within the Emergency Department in University Hospital Wishaw, which is a Trauma Unit within the Scottish Trauma Network, and the NHS Lanarkshire centre for emergency orthopaedics. The department has an annual attendance of 75,000 with approximately 25% of its attendances being paediatric and is the inpatient site for paediatrics for the Trust.
As a team of EM consultants, we strongly believe in providing a sustainable work/life balance. We have a well‑established self‑rostering system in place with sessions being annualised. Clinical administration time has been factored in as per RCEM guidance. There are no plans to move to consultant night‑shifts.
Our department is truly a multidisciplinary team with emergency medicine trainees from the West of Scotland rotation, specialty doctors, clinical fellows, clinical development fellows, GP trainees, foundation trainees, advanced care practitioners; advanced practice physiotherapists and extended role minor injuries nursing staff. We are committed to the training and development of the entire team and look to expand our team further to continue to provide excellent, progressive care.
We work closely with the wider hospital inpatient teams and have developed excellent relationships to allow collaborative working, ensuring patient‑centred care.
NHS Lanarkshire welcomes applications from both newly qualified and established Consultants in Emergency Medicine to join and expand our motivated, enthusiastic and dedicated team.
Applicants who wish to arrange job plans to accommodate other professional interests are encouraged to apply.
