The opportunity:
As the Head of Assurance, Quality & Reporting you will have the opportunity to design the approach and lead the (SHEQ) risk-based assurance programme for Morgan Sindall Infrastructure (MSI), comprising of rail, highways, water & energy sectors.
You will also provide leadership, advice and management support to the business in relation to the Quality Strategy, developing policies, procedures and metrics as well as acting as the relationship lead with BSI, to ensure ISO (or similar) certification / accreditation, including external audit interfaces, are maintained without risk
This is a key role which will collaborate with the Business Unit Assurance and Quality leaders and enable the sharing of best practice across Infrastructure. Be recognised internally as a subject matter expert for Assurance, Quality and Reporting across MSI
You will also, on behalf of the SHEQ Director lead all SHEQ Monthly Reporting, that is supplied to the Infrastructure Management Team (IMT), the board report and Morgan Sindall Group (via the SHEQ Director)
Accountability for the Integrated Management System (IMS), ensuring this is fit for purpose, maintained and updated to comply with legislation, industry and Morgan Sindall standards. Supply Management Information on compliance and status is also a key objective.
Responsibilities and accountabilities:
Assurance:
Accountable for the development and design, and ensuring the delivery of the risk-based assurance approach and programme for MSI, focused on SHE Q and inclusive of system compliance audits
Responsible for providing interpreted management information, trends and findings from the assurance programme activity to the SHEQ Director
Quality:
Ensure and assure that the quality policy is being implemented consistently across the business
Develop, with the SHEQ Director, the Infrastructure Quality Strategy
Accountable for the Integrated Management System (IMS), ensuring it is fit for purpose, maintained and updated to comply with legislation, industry and Morgan Sindall standards. Supply Management Information on compliance and status to the SHEQ Director
Develop policy, processes and produce documents to maintain our ISO9001 certification and system compliance
Set and maintain standards of IMS quality practice ensuring awareness training is provided to colleagues and the supply chain as appropriate.
Enable the Heads of Quality / Assurance and/or Q Managers in implementing the IMS, responding to Business Unit (BU) needs to meet Client and Customer requirements
Lead and maintain, with the support of the SHEQ Director, a governance regime for IMS change management and other operating systems if appropriate
Through the IMS Governance regime ensure changes are communicated to MSI to ensure colleagues are aware of the latest developments for implementation
Own the relationship with BSI. Ensure ISO (or similar) certification / accreditation, including external audit interfaces, are maintained without risk. Escalate accreditation risks early to the SHEQ Director and/or IMT. Manage the BSI Portal, including MSI action plans and close out.
If not leading, support the business during external audits,, Achilles, NERS
Collaborate with the Business Unit Assurance and Quality leaders and enable the sharing of best practice across Infrastructure.
Communicate effectively and regularly with other members of the SHEQ Team regarding assurance, quality and reporting matters
Lead and undertake inspections, audits and investigations where required, reporting and implementing lessons learned and improvements
Reporting:
Lead the on time production of the SHEQ Monthly Reports to the SHEQ Director for submission to the IMT (the Board Report) and Morgan Sindall Group
Provide the Assurance and Quality overview for said monthly board report
Provide the SHEQ Director and Infrastructure Management Team with management information (metrics, KPIs, Data) on the status of the IMS including subject matter expert recommendations in order to inform investment and prioritised decisions to be made
Lead the annual Management Review cycle ensuring all Business Unit’s complete the review in a timely manner to enable a full divisional MSI review to be completed with the IMT. Share the findings and manage the actions to close out
To be successful in this role you will:
* Be educated to degree level or equivalent in a relevant subject matter
* Be a member of The Chartered Quality Institute
* Have in depth Knowledge of ISO 9001 with an understanding of the requirements of SHE related ISO standards
* Have demonstrable experience in a similar role / industry including previous senior level experience of compliance with company management systems
* Have detailed knowledge of current best practice and of working effectively with managers and staff to achieve the most effective results
* Have experience of managing, motivating, influencing and empowering staff and others
* Have experience of communicating effectively both verbally and in writing at senior management level
