Job Description: Service & Technical Engineer
Location: Barnsley, Sheffield, Leeds & Surrounding Areas
Salary: £38,000-£45,000 (DOE)
The Role
We're seeking a skilled and adaptable Service & Technical Engineer to carry out maintenance, installation, and repair work across a wide range of plumbing, HVAC, and mechanical systems. This mobile role offers variety, independence, and the chance to work on diverse commercial sites under the guidance of a Service & Technical Manager.
Key Responsibilities
* Planned and reactive maintenance on plumbing, heating, air conditioning, and mechanical plant.
* Installation and commissioning of HVAC, plumbing, and mechanical systems.
* Fault‑fining, diagnostics, and implementing effective repairs.
* Identifying efficiency and system improvement opportunities.
* Ensuring compliance with health & safety and completing all required documentation.
* Professional communication with clients and accurate reporting.
* Regular travel to client sites.
What You’ll Bring
* Proven experience in plumbing, HVAC, and mechanical service work.
* Relevant qualifications (NVQ Level 2/3, City & Guilds, Mechanical/HVAC/Plumbing).
* F‑Gas certification (required for AC work).
* Strong diagnostic and problem‑solving skills.
* Good understanding of commercial mechanical and building services systems.
* Clear communication skills and a full UK driving licence.
Desirable Extras
* Experience with specific manufacturers' systems.
* Knowledge of BMS operations.
* Additional certifications (unvented hot water, confined spaces, etc.).
