About Norton Hill Primary School

At Norton Hill Primary School, we take great pride in offering a vibrant and supportive learning environment where every child is encouraged to thrive. As part of the Midsomer Norton Schools Partnership, we benefit from shared expertise, resources and a strong community spirit that underpins everything we do.

We’re proud of our excellent facilities, which includes sports halls, dance studio, two large outdoor pitches for football and rugby and a multi-purpose hard surface sports area for basketball, tennis, hockey, football and netball. In addition to our strong focus on physical education, we also specialise in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics)—providing inspiring, hands-on learning experiences that ignite curiosity and creativity.

About the Role

Your primary role will be to inspire young minds and ensure that every child in your care reaches their full potential—academically, socially and emotionally.

You will:

1. Teach all areas of the primary curriculum.
2. Take responsibility for the progress of a class of primary-age pupils.
3. Organise the classroom and learning resources and create displays to encourage a positive learning environment.
4. Plan, prepare and present lessons that cater for the needs of the whole ability range within the class.
5. Motivate pupils with enthusiastic, imaginative presentations.
6. Maintain discipline in line with our behaviour policy.
7. Prepare and mark work to facilitate positive pupil development.
8. Meet requirements for the assessment and recording of pupils' development.
9. Ensure that pupils are safe and that all child protection and safeguarding measures are followed in accordance with school and national policies.
10. Provide feedback to parents and carers on a pupil's progress at parents' evenings and other meetings.
11. Coordinate activities and resources within a specific area of the curriculum, and support colleagues in the delivery of this specialist area.
12. Work with other teachers, teaching assistants and other relevant professionals to plan and coordinate work.
13. Keep up to date with changes and developments in the structure of the curriculum.
14. Organise and take part in school events, outings and activities.
15. Liaise with colleagues, parents and school governors to maximise their involvement in the school and the development of resources for the school.
16. Meet with other professionals such as education welfare officers and educational psychologists, if required.

As a teacher with us, you’ll be part of a supportive and professionally rewarding environment, with a comprehensive package of national and local benefits tailored specifically for the teaching profession. We offer a competitive salary, along with access to the Teachers’ Pension Scheme, providing a secure retirement income and family protection. Your terms and conditions of employment are in line with the nationally agreed Burgundy Book, which provides a strong foundation of entitlements. In addition to these national entitlements, we also offer a range of local benefits that support your well-being and professional development, including:

17. A confidential Employee Assistance Programme (EAP)
18. Funded continuing professional development (CPD) opportunities
19. Cycle to Work Scheme
20. Free eye tests and flu vaccinations
21. On-site free parking and low-cost catering
