Grade: Grade 7 SCP 25-29 Contract Type: Permanent Hours: 37 hours per week Working Pattern: All Year Round Actual Salary: 35,235 - 38,626 Interview Date: Wednesday 2 nd July 2025 As of September 2025, Brownhill Learning Community will defederate into two separate entities. A specialist SEMH Special School under new leadership of Narda Sestanovic and a Pupil Referral Service (PSR) under new leadership of Dave Shields. Both Schools have had new staffing structures, designed to create an environment that will enhance learner s engagement, wellbeing, and learning. This is an exciting and ambitious new chapter for both schools. The Pupil Referral Service (PRS) will be based across three sites within the Rochdale Borough and will cater for pupils from KS2-KS4. The PRS are looking for candidates who are committed to working with the most vulnerable and in need pupils. You will need to be passionate about what you do and determined to help our young people overcome their barriers to success. This role will be working in the PRS. We are a dynamic and supportive PRS (Pupil Referral Service) committed to providing an inclusive and nurturing environment for children facing a range of challenges. Our goal is to empower every child to reach their full potential, providing tailored support that promotes both academic and emotional growth. We are looking for an empathetic and dedicated Children's Welfare Officer to join our passionate team. This vital role will focus on ensuring the welfare of our students, supporting their emotional, social, and mental well-being while working closely with staff, families, and external agencies. Key Responsibilities: Safeguarding & Welfare: Ensure the safety, welfare, and well-being of all students in line with safeguarding policies and procedures. Support & Guidance: Provide individual support to students with social, emotional, and mental health needs, helping them to overcome barriers to learning. Liaison with Families: Work collaboratively with parents and carers to provide tailored support and strategies for students. Multi-agency Collaboration: Work closely with external agencies such as social services, CAMHS (Child and Adolescent Mental Health Services), and educational psychologists to ensure holistic support for students. Monitoring & Reporting: Keep detailed records of student welfare concerns, incidents, and progress, ensuring that all documentation is in line with school policies. Intervention: Provide early intervention and preventative strategies to address emerging welfare concerns and help students develop positive coping mechanisms. Promoting Well-being: Develop and promote activities and initiatives within the school to support mental health and well-being. The post holders will be required to work across all 3 of the PRS sites as required.
