Job Description:

Engineering Technician - Lift & Crane

Location: Birmingham

Starting salary: £35,339 plus excellent benefits

Role Description

This is an exciting new opportunity for a home-based, mechanical engineer covering Kent or Birmingham to join Allianz Engineering, a division of one of the largest insurers and financial services companies in the world.

As an Engineering Technician, you will assess a wide range of mechanical plant equipment to ensure it is continually safe to use and operate. This could include lifting equipment, submersible pumps, or fixed motors.

You will anticipate our client's needs and help ensure compliance with relevant legislation. You will work closely with other Engineering Technicians and will be managed by a Senior Operations Team Leader. Inspections will be reported electronically for quick and efficient delivery to clients.

This role involves hands-on, non-intrusive inspections of plant and equipment within your area. It offers variety, visiting multiple locations daily and experiencing areas you might not otherwise access. The role can be physically demanding and may require working at heights, in confined spaces, lifting, and climbing in various conditions. Exposure to noise and dust is expected, so comfort in a hands-on environment is necessary.

About You

Essential Skills & Experience

* Passionate about engineering, self-driven, with strong client interaction skills.
* Experience working with mechanical equipment in manufacturing, repair, or maintenance roles.
* Good oral and written communication skills.
* Effective time management and the ability to organize your work independently.

Qualification requirements:

* Mechanical Engineering qualification: NVQ Level 3 or equivalent.
* At least 3 years of hands-on engineering experience.
* Full UK driving license.

Additional requirements:

* Up-to-date knowledge of relevant compliance and regulatory rules for mechanical plant inspection.
* Ability to make informed decisions and take responsibility.
* Effective planning skills for meetings, visits, and work allocation.
* Ability to travel effectively within your designated area.
* Timely processing of documentation and general administration.
* Willingness to support colleagues and deputize when needed.

What We Will Offer You

Recognized and rewarded for your work, with flexible benefits options to suit your needs. We offer flexible working, global career opportunities within Allianz, and extensive training. Benefits include:

* Generous pension contributions
* Uncapped overtime earnings
* Travel time included in the workweek
* Life cover up to 4x salary
* Flexible holiday options
* Development days and unlimited learning opportunities
* Up to 50% discounts on insurance products for you and your family
* Retail discounts (BMW, Vodafone, Uber Eats, attractions, travel, shops, etc.)
