This is a maternity cover until February 2027. Applications are invited to apply for a Clinical Fellow in our friendly and supportive team in Obstetrics and Gynaecology at the James Paget University Hospital. This modern District General Hospital has approximately 500 beds and is situated in a coastal holiday area of East Anglia. It serves a population of 250,000 that increases considerably during the summer months.
Our Consultant team has recently been expanded and we are recruiting one additional Senior Clinical Fellow post to increase our Tier 2 team to 10. This role will provide appropriate cover for rota commitments and improve the support our Tier 2 team can give for clinical work within the service.
Applicants will be responsible for clinical and administrative roles within Obstetrics and Gynaecology. The post holder will take part in the on‑call/out‑of‑hours rota (1:10) according to department requirements. There will be involvement in a regular teaching programme and opportunities for career progression.
Main duties of the job
* Overall responsibility of day‑to‑day ward routines.
* Close supervision of the work of the first on‑call trainee.
* Ante‑natal and gynaecological outpatient clinics.
* Theatre duties.
* Training of Specialty Trainees and Medical Students.
* Oversee the management of inpatient ward routines, admission and discharge of all patients, in consultation with the consultant and with ward Specialty Trainees and other health professionals.
* Attend three consultant clinics per week and participate in case presentations and departmental audits.
* May be required to undertake operating lists indirectly supervised in line with the post holder’s capabilities and patient safety.

Person Specification
Education and Qualifications
* MBBS or equivalent.
* Full GMC registration.
* ALS, ALERT or equivalent.
* Successful completion of Part 1 MRCOG at time of application.
Experience & Knowledge
* Evidence of achievement of competencies of ST3 and above.
* Ability to prioritise clinical needs with awareness of own limitations and the ability to know when to consult senior advice.
Desirable Experience
* Other relevant degrees or diplomas.
Academic Achievements
* Demonstrate understanding of the principles of audit and research.
* Ability to provide complete details of employment history.
