The Advance Clinical Nurse Specialist will be responsible for reviewing patients on the waiting list for the Community Drug and Alcohol service with particular emphasis on ‘pulling those patients with greatest risks into the service’. This post will ensure those people with the highest levels of risk and greatest complexity are prioritised to receive a service.
The Advance Clinical Nurse Specialist will serve as a service navigator and will work closely with the third sector substance use services as a single contact for all referrals to SBUHB’s Substance Use services and will take a lead role in managing the nursing staff working on the service's alcohol detox pathway and the Co-occurring Link Workers. The Advance Clinical Nurse Specialist role will strengthen the voluntary sector hub and provide input, education and training for voluntary sector colleagues.
The Advanced Clinical Nurse Specialist will be based in CDAT, working across both Swansea and Neath Port Talbot teams, however work as an independent practitioner whose focus is on those patients with complex needs.

Qualifications

Essential criteria

1. Registered Nurse and current NMC Registration
2. Master’s Degree or equivalent experience Specialist qualifications Expert level of knowledge in clinical speciality

Desirable criteria

3. Teaching qualification (or equivalent experience)
4. Management qualification (or equivalent experience)
5. Non-medical Prescribing (v300)
6. Advanced clinical skills

Experience

Essential criteria

7. Experience in the relevant specialty Experience of working in a multiprofessional environment
8. Experience of managing a ward area/department
9. Experience of working with preregistration nursing/midwifery students in a mentorship role
10. Experience of undertaking audit
11. Experience of using reflective learning to support the development of self and staff

Desirable criteria

12. Experience of participating in research

Knowledge

Essential criteria

13. Knowledge of service improvement
14. Able to undertake a literature search and critically appraise research papers
