Role Summary
As a Development Engineer, you will play a hands-on role in developing and refining design solutions for manufacturing applications. Working alongside experienced design and development engineers plus cross-functional teams, you will contribute to concept development, prototype testing, and production readiness. This is an exciting opportunity to grow your technical engineering skills while shaping the future of engineered solutions.
🔧 Key Responsibilities
* Assist in designing components and assemblies for manufacturability, performance, and cost-effectiveness
* Support prototype development, testing, and documentation activities
* Collaborate with design, manufacturing, and quality teams to resolve engineering challenges
* Create and update all manufacturing documentation
* Maintain CAD models and technical drawings using [insert software, e.g., SolidWorks / AutoCAD]
* Contribute to design reviews and help identify areas for innovation or optimisation
* Perform First Article Inspection (FIA)
* Conduct root cause analysis and support implementation of design improvements
* Liaise with suppliers to understand material and manufacturing capabilities
* Stay up to date with industry standards, emerging technologies, and best practices
Job Requirements
* Degree or HND (or equivalent) in Mechanical Engineering, Product Design Engineering, or related engineering subject
* 1–2 years’ experience in a design or development role within a manufacturing environment
* Proficient in CAD software (e.g., SolidWorks, Creo, AutoCAD) and engineering documentation
* Understanding of manufacturing processes such as CNC machining, sheet metal fabrication, or moulding
* Strong problem-solving mindset with attention to detail
* Good communication and teamwork skills
Desirable Attributes
* Exposure to FEA or other simulation tools
* Familiarity with DFM/DFA principles
* Experience with prototyping or hands-on mechanical testing
* Enthusiasm for innovation and product development
