Overview
Behaviour Support Worker at Oxford Outcomes, Ryecroft School, Walsall, West Midlands. Salary £25,000 per annum (not pro rata). Hours: 37.5 per week, Monday to Friday, 8:30am – 4:00pm. Contract: Permanent, Term Time Only. Start: November 2025. UK applicants only. This role does not offer sponsorship.
About the role
You will join a dedicated team to support students with autism and complex needs. You will help students overcome barriers, develop skills, and thrive academically and personally by following school ethos of inclusion, respect and achievement.
Responsibilities
* Support the Positive Behaviour Lead and the wider Inclusion Team to implement effective behaviour strategies and pastoral care.
* Monitor behavioural trends, implement positive interventions, and encourage engagement through reward schemes and celebrations (e.g., ClassDojo points, student leadership opportunities, and reward trips).
* Collaborate with teachers, therapists, and external agencies to support individualised behaviour plans and guide staff in implementing strategies from EHCPs and Pupil Passports.
* Be present around the school (classrooms, breaks/lunch, and events) to maintain a safe, consistent, and positive environment.
* Contribute to the school’s wider ethos of inclusion, respect, and achievement.
Essential requirements
* GCSEs in English and Maths (Grade C/Level 4 or above) or equivalent Level 2 qualifications
* Full UK Driving Licence
* Experience working with autistic spectrum disorders and/or challenging behaviour
* Ability to work independently and as part of a team
* Strong verbal and written communication skills
* Ability to mediate, negotiate, problem-solve, and record information accurately
Desirable
* Experience in education or pastoral roles within the SEND sector
* Knowledge of positive behaviour support, trauma-informed practice, or similar approaches
* Experience coordinating multi-disciplinary teams and implementing behaviour plans
