Job Title: Residential Childcare Workers
Salary: £31,537 progressing to £34,434 per annum plus 6% market enhancement*
Hours: 37 hours per week

About the Team
Hertfordshire County Council believes in keeping young people close to maintain their identity and support them, their families, and friends. We understand the impact of trauma on children and are passionate about helping young people find strength and explore their goals.
Responsibilities
* Act as a mentor, teacher, coach, and role model, delivering guidance and support throughout the day.
* Build and maintain positive relationships with young people, their families, schools, social workers, police, and other professionals.
* Support a young person to develop routines, boundaries, and consistency in a calm, non‑judgemental manner.
* Plan and facilitate daily activities such as horse riding, painting, driving, walking, shopping, and virtual schooling.
* Provide therapeutic support to children and young people who display challenging behaviour due to early life trauma.
* Complete relevant paperwork and comply with legislation, safeguarding, and health & safety requirements.
* Work shift/rota basis, with flexibility to swap shifts, including evenings, weekends, bank holidays, and sleeping duties.
* Act as a liaison for health and social care professionals, attending meetings when required.
Qualifications
Essential
* Full UK driving licence (including business insurance) and regular access to a car.
* Passion for working with children.
* Ability to learn and implement training.
* Flexible and innovative to meet the challenge.
* Willingness to work shifts, including evenings, weekends, bank holidays and sleeping duties.
Desirable
* Diploma level 3/4 in health and social care.
* Experience working with children or caring for children and young people.
