Job Title: Finance Accountant
We are currently looking to recruit a Finance Accountant within our Sales & Stock Accounting team. This is a hybrid role based 3 days a week in the office.
Next is a dynamic and fast-growing business. To succeed in this role, you must be comfortable in a fast-moving, fluid, and ever-changing environment. You will need a solid mix of financial/management accounting skills, coupled with financial analysis to maintain core financial controls, support key stakeholders, and drive business initiatives.
The successful candidate will become a key part of the Sales & Stock Accounting team, supporting the continued success and growth of the Next business.
The role:
You will support Next’s ‘Royalties & Licensing' business. Based at our Leicestershire Head Office, you will be responsible for delivering financial support to key stakeholders regarding revenue generated from royalties and licensing.
Key responsibilities:
Royalty Statement Management
* Manage the preparation and issuance of periodic outbound royalty and licensing statements for 45 partners, with an outflow of approximately £10m per annum.
* Manage the preparation and issuance of inbound royalty statements and sales invoices, generating income of approximately £1m per annum.
* Coordinate with product teams and licensing partners to ensure prompt payments, contract compliance, and resolve operational issues arising from statement issuance.
Management Information
* Produce weekly sales performance reports for each partner, detailing sales, performance against forecasts, and performance against minimum guarantees.
* Manage performance against minimum guarantees, including handling onerous contract provisions.
Contract Management & Compliance
* Review new contracts with product teams and legal to identify and mitigate operational challenges.
* Review contracts for specific turnover clauses to ensure correct royalty billing.
Experience:
A proactive and hands-on qualified Accountant (ACCA/CIMA or equivalent).
Demonstrable reporting experience.
Ability to work independently.
Stakeholder management skills.
Strong influencing and negotiation skills.
Exceptional knowledge of MS Office (especially MS Excel); familiarity with Google G Suite is desirable.
