Nursery Room Leader – St Albans
FULL TIME POSITIONS AVAILABLE
We have a new position open for a Room Leader to join a dynamic team at a thriving nursery near St Albans. The nursery is open 51 weeks per year, Monday to Friday, 7:30 AM – 6:30 PM, closing 1 week between Christmas and New Year. Located in the Bricket Wood area, a few minutes’ walk from Bricket Wood train station. As a Room Leader you work directly with the Third in Charge Deputy Manager, Nursery Manager and Nursery Director to provide outstanding care and education, while you receive exceptional support, training, and mentoring.

* £14.96 to £16.00 per hour depending on experience and qualifications

Key Qualifications and Requirements
* Minimum Level 3 childcare qualification
* Experience in a nursery setting
* 12 hours paediatric first aid (essential)
* Food Hygiene or equivalent training and compliance in food management (this can be completed as part of Induction)
* Related safeguarding/child protection training and a willingness to update training regularly (essential)
* Evidence of continuous professional development
Key Responsibilities
* Lead, mentor and inspire a team to deliver high care and education standards and support.
* Ensure internal policies, procedures and legislation from governing bodies are adhered to; team members can demonstrate their knowledge and understanding of Policies and Procedures.
* Lead and support the nursery curriculum to ensure a child-centred approach to operating all aspects of the nursery; ensure observation and planning meet the needs of all children.
* Demonstrate effective written and verbal communication with all stakeholders, including parents, professionals and colleagues.
* Support and manage health and safety policies and procedures and continuously demonstrate, monitor, and improve practices that underpin a high-performing safety culture.
* When required, be the Designated Safeguarding Lead at the nursery.
* Lead by example and drive the culture of safeguarding children and promoting professional staff behavior.
* Collaborate with the Nursery Manager and Deputy Manager to contribute to succession planning and delivery of relevant training and personal development plans, including coaching and mentoring for all staff you are leading.
* Work as part of a larger team to complete essential day-to-day tasks in line with nursery demands (e.g., hygiene standards and room preparation).
* Promote the nursery to current parents and potential customers to support retention and occupancy growth.
* Engage with the Local Authority and understand referral processes when necessary to engage with professionals for child referrals.
* Continue personal professional development to ensure knowledge and skills are up to date and relevant to leading teams as a room leader.
