The role
The post of Income Assistant is a great opportunity to join a high performing, talented and professional team, responsible for a wide range of transactional based processes including the timely collection of tuition and accommodation fees, receipt allocation to individual debtor records for all monies received by a variety of methods, and the initiation of refunds due to students, sponsors or commercial partners.
You will be responsible for receipting and reconciling all income by providing an efficient, quality and customer focused income collection service. Responsibilities will also include providing a professional customer focussed counter service, and proactively chasing customers for non-payment of invoices by negotiating repayment plans and monitoring these repayment plans.
About you
To be successful in the Income Assistant role, you will need a good working knowledge of, or qualifications in, Microsoft Office together with GCSE's Grade A-C or equivalent, including in Mathematics and English.
You must have customer service experience and the ability to deal with multiple priorities, work to deadlines as well as having good organisational skills and experience of data inputting. In addition, you must have excellent interpersonal skills including the ability to impart and record information clearly and accurately.

Income and Payments team
The Income and Payments team sits within the Finance, Planning and Data Insight Section, which has responsibility for managing the University’s income and expenditure, ensuring we get value for money in all financial activity and that we comply with all statutory and regulatory requests. Our aim to ensure consistent financial best practice is applied across the University.
The Income and Payments team is co-located on both the Colchester and Southend campuses. This post will be based at our Colchester campus.
