Overview
We are looking to appoint a Senior Radiology Clinical Support Worker at Bronglais General Hospital. The post includes a wide range of duties including clinical and administrative tasks to support radiology examinations and procedures. The role requires a proactive approach to planning and scheduling to meet the varying daily needs within imaging services and to provide patient-centred care.
Responsibilities
* Work on rotation through radiology modalities (X‑Ray, Ultrasound, CT, MRI, Fluoroscopy) and confirm requirements with senior staff to enable planning and scheduling of duties.
* Coordinate with registered staff to plan and adapt schedules to accommodate urgent and emergency referrals; undertake organisational tasks such as booking examinations, transferring images electronically, and obtaining previous imaging and results; highlight potential issues to senior staff.
* Deliver delegated aspects of clinical care within the radiology department, such as preparing equipment for complex trolley settings, insertion and removal of intravenous cannulas, administration of oral contrast agents, and assisting registered staff in aseptic examinations (e.g., fine needle aspirations and musculoskeletal injections).
* Assist patients directly and provide high levels of care and efficient services; perform housekeeping, administrative and clerical duties as required (greeting patients, performing identity checks and patient safety questionnaires, ensuring a clean environment).
* Support the learning and development of junior colleagues.
* Support imaging services in planning and scheduling to accommodate daily needs and ensure patient-centred care.
Qualifications and Skills
* Understanding of the role of radiographic support workers and ability to work across modalities; willingness to learn through accredited learning and internal training to deliver delegated clinical care.
* Ability to plan and organise tasks, with a proactive approach to scheduling and patient care.
* Desirable ability to communicate in Welsh with patients and professionals; the Health Board offers learning options and staff support to meet Welsh language requirements during employment.
* Experience or familiarity with coordinating examinations, transferring images, and obtaining prior results is advantageous.
