Based from their Glasgow office, this role presents a fantastic opportunity for an ambitious Quantity Surveyor to join their well-established business with an impressive portfolio of clients.
Job purpose:
* To manage and support on all commercial related matters within the FM business to help achieve P&L targets, implementing business improvements, driving efficiencies, and ensuring compliance. The role will involve working on various major contract awards delivering FM solutions. The successful candidate will have commercial skills and acumen across both FM activity and general projects along a proven track record in commercially leading projects at all stages from initial tender through to settlement of final accounts.
Key Accountabilities
* General support to Managing Surveyor, including implementation of commercial strategy / profit maximisation plans and business improvements.
* Manage and assist the estimating team on multiple small works projects across a spectrum of work types.
* Oversee the preparation and agreement of priced schedules of work utilising existing schedules of rates.
* Drafting of supply chain contracts (both projects and PPM) and propose improvements where necessary.
* Produce and develop processes to create efficiencies and ensure compliance with FM processes.
* Provide support to account teams on more complex commercial matters and help resolve disputes.
* Presenting/demonstrating costs upstream to the Client and dealing with all queries returned in a timely and professional manner.
* Assisting the commercial team in appointing subcontractors and issuing basic subcontract orders
* Responsible for financial performance of contract/s and maximise margin
* Working with the operational team to ensure all variations are captured and approved. These will be short duration works and so communication is key to ensuring there are captured on a live basis and agreed with the client.
* Responsible for developing client relationships to ensure retention of contract and future opportunities in different areas.
* Provide technical support to the client and admin support staff
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
* Educated to Degree level, surveying.
* Experience of working within facilities management or small works
* Strong PC literacy, with experience in extracting, collating and presenting performance data.
* Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
* Excellent planning, organising, prioritisation and project management skills.
* Full driving licence.
