Role
To support a 43-year-old gentleman with M.E., fibromyalgia and neuropathy, who has a heart condition, to maintain his home and support making meals, cleaning, shopping and social outings.
Main Duties
* All supportive household tasks.
* Attending GP appointments and hospital appointments.
* Help with the gentleman’s birds and occasional cage cleaning, changing of birds’ water or food or cutting fruit for the birds.
* Shopping (taken to supermarket and shops and support for buying food, clothing, welfare bird related items and general household items).
* Planning and preparing (cooking) meals for the gentleman.
* Prompted and support with personal care.
* Support with medication (reminding) and (taking where necessary if the gentleman is unable).
* Access the community for coffee shops and walks.
* Day trips/events and social outings, zoos, nature parks, coach trips, holidays and other nice places the customer will pay for the applicant to attend any pre‑planned outing agreed between you both, as he has never been able to do these things and for quality of life would like to, as he could never do anything like this alone, and has not done previously.
Personal Qualities and Attributes required
* Complete respect of confidentiality and privacy, that anything said in private stays confidential between the applicant and the employer and no one else.
* The employer will also be extremely respectful of the applicant’s confidentiality and privacy, and this will be fully respected at all times inside and outside of the home.
* Must be very trustworthy and honest.
* Car owner with driving licence, use of own vehicle required, business insurance essential, and must allow pet parrot in a small carry cage on travels.
* Must feel comfortable around small welfare birds and customer’s welfare parrot which is hand‑tame.
Requirements for Employed
* Role may be subject to a DBS check; employer may also ask for you to supply references.
* Must be able to prove the right to work in the UK. No sponsorships are available.
Requirements for Self‑Employed
* Person undertaking this role may be requested to supply evidence of DBS clearance and/or references where appropriate.
Hours
6 days per week, consisting of 2hrs per day = 12 hrs per week Monday‑Saturday (Can be flexible with support times but prefer afternoons due to sleeping patterns and medications; the customer is adaptive to time schedules and very easy‑going, even if it was all mornings).
Potential for extra hours over time.
Pay
£12.71 per hour Employed
£18.00 per hour Self‑Employed
