Job Summary

Are you experienced in finance, looking to join a warm and friendly team with a supportive culture? If so, we have an exciting opportunity waiting for you at our multi‑site primary care practice based in and around Poole, Dorset. Working with GP partners and senior management, and leading a team of Finance Administrators, you will ensure the practice operates profitably and cost‑effectively, overseeing all financial procedures.

This part‑time permanent contract is 26–30 hours per week with a flexible working pattern. Salary is £46,000 per year (FTE, pro‑rated for part‑time) based on experience.

Job Responsibilities

* Work as an integral part of the Management Team to ensure that the practice operates profitably and cost‑effectively, aligned with the financial aspirations of the Practice Business Manager and Partners.
* Support the Management Team in providing timely and accurate financial information and advice.
* Analyse adverse/favourable movements between budgets and actual income/expenditure as part of the performance management process.
* Have significant involvement in the annual budget setting process and ongoing in‑year budget maintenance/reconciliation.
* Assist in identifying potential areas of cost and/or performance improvement, and monitor such plans once implemented, especially in early stages and annual review.
* Provide ongoing financial advice and support, answer queries arising from financial reports, and produce ad‑hoc reports and analysis as required.
* Provide information as requested by members of the Management Team.


Experience

* Significant experience in all aspects of financial reporting, planning and control.
* Significant experience of working to tight reporting deadlines.


Desirable Experience

* NHS financial experience.


Other

* Understanding, acceptance and adherence to the need for strict confidentiality.
* Ability to travel between the practice sites.


Qualifications

* Good general level of education.


Desirable Qualifications

* Accountancy qualification.


Skills and Attributes

* Ability to self‑motivate, organise and prioritise own workload while coping with day‑to‑day requirements.
* Ability to apply knowledge to workload and demonstrate analytical skills.
* Ability and willingness to share information.
* Proven numeracy skills and wage calculation experience.
* Excellent communication skills (verbal, written and presentational).
* Computer literate with good working knowledge of Excel, Word, etc.
* Use of accountancy software e.g. Xero (desirable).
