About the employer and role
This home supports adolescents who have encountered adversity, including emotional distress, behavioural issues, or disruptive life events. It's a transition home with ages 14 to 23 years. They are committed to making a meaningful and lasting impact on the lives of some of the most vulnerable and disadvantaged people in our communities. With your support, they can help every child and young person reach beyond their circumstances and discover what's truly possible. You will focus on trauma-informed care that recognises each individual's story, strengths, and needs.
Responsibilities
* No two days are ever the same. You'll be part of a caring, supportive team and share in moments of fun, laughter, and real connection.
* Create a safe, fun, and structured home environment where young people can feel secure and supported.
* Prepare meals, help with school runs, join in activities, or be present at bedtime.
* Be a consistent and trusted presence, offering practical help and emotional support to build confidence, life skills, and independence.
* Keep clear, accurate records and work closely with families, schools, and other professionals to ensure each young person receives the right support.
* Follow safeguarding procedures to ensure everyone's safety and wellbeing.
Requirements
* You genuinely care about children and young people. You'll need patience, empathy, emotional resilience, and a good sense of humour.
* Positive, hands-on attitude and strong communication skills.
* Ability to work shifts, including evenings and weekends (weekend work tends to be one in three per month). Nights are not required.
* You will need to be a driver with access to your own vehicle due to the home's location.
* Previous experience in care is welcome but not essential—we'll provide full training and ongoing support.
