Job Description
West Sussex County Council is seeking a Property Pathway and Sustainability Officer to join Place Services. This temporary role will provide support during a peak in workload, focusing on securing suitable accommodation for refugee, resettled, and migrant families across West Sussex.
Key Responsibilities
* Work collaboratively with Communities directorate teams, District and Borough councils, and external partners to secure appropriate housing.
* Support refugee and migrant families in finding affordable accommodation and overcoming barriers to housing.
* Prevent premature termination of accommodation placements by providing proactive support.
* Build strong working relationships with estate agents, landlords, and the Home Office to secure property within West Sussex.
* Provide direct support to families relocating to the UK, ensuring sustainable housing solutions.
* Contribute to reducing reliance on temporary accommodation.
* Travel county-wide to meet families and partners, including locations not easily accessible by public transport.
* Maintain accurate records and ensure compliance with council policies and safeguarding standards.
Requirements
* Valid UK driving licence (essential).
* Strong communication skills, with the ability to liaise effectively with families, landlords, and partner agencies.
* Experience in housing, property, or community support roles.
* Ability to manage a varied workload and deliver outcomes under time constraints.
* Commitment to supporting vulnerable families and promoting sustainable housing solutions.
* Flexibility to work in a hybrid arrangement, with a minimum of 2 days per week in the office.
