We also are a GP Training practice and host FY2 Doctors intraining. We have a skilled and experienced team of clinical staff and haveexcellent support from our management and admin teams. The practice has astrong working relationship with our community nursing team and pharmacysupport services.

The post holder will manage a caseload and deal with a widerange of health needs in a primary care setting, ensuring the highest standardsof care for all our patients.
In accordance with our practice rota, as agreed the postholder will make themselves available to undertake a variety of duties:including clinical audits, F2F surgery consultations, a triage system, use ofAccuRx, video & telephone consultations, home visits, checking/signingrepeat prescriptions and issuing acute scripts. They will deal with paperworkand correspondence in a timely manner.

We are seeking a caring and committed doctor who is able todemonstrate high standards of clinical care and is willing to work as part of ahighly motivated team.

Job responsibilities
The post holder will manage a caseload and deal with a widerange of health needs in a primary care setting, ensuring the highest standardsof care for all registered and temporary patients.
Clinical responsibilities
In accordance with the practice timetable, as agreed, thepost-holder will make themselves available to undertake a variety of duties,including F2F & Tel consultations, telephone consultations and queries,visiting patients at home, checking and signing repeat prescriptions anddealing with queries, paperwork and correspondence in a timely fashion
Making professional, autonomous decisions in relation topresenting problems, whether self-referred or referred from other health careworkers within the Practice
Assessing the health care needs of patients withundifferentiated and undiagnosed problems
Screening patients for disease risk factors and early signsof illness
Developing care plans for health in consultation withpatients and in line with current practice disease management protocols
Providing counselling and health education
Admitting or discharging patients to and from the caseloadand referring to other care providers as appropriate
Recording clear and contemporaneous consultation notes toagreed standards
Compiling and issuing computer-generated acute and repeatprescriptions (avoiding hand-written prescriptions whenever possible)
Prescribing in accordance with the practice prescribingformulary (or generically) whenever this is clinically appropriate
In general, the post-holder will be expected to undertakeall the normal duties and responsibilities associated with a GP working withinprimary care.

Awareness of and compliance with all relevant practicepolicies/guidelines, e.g. prescribing, confidentiality, data protection, healthand safety
A commitment to life-long learning and audit to ensureevidence-based best practice
Contributing to evaluation/audit and clinical standardsetting within the practice
Contributing to the development of computer-based patientrecords
Contributing to the summarising of patient records andread-coding patient data
Attending training and events organised by the practice orother agencies, where appropriate.

In the performance of the duties outlined in this jobdescription, the post-holder may have access to confidential informationrelating to patients and their carers, practice staff and other healthcareworkers. Health & safety:
The post-holder will implement and lead on a full range ofpromotion and management of their own and others health and safety andinfection control as defined in the practice health & safety policy, thepractice health & safety manual, and the practice infection control policyand published procedures. This will include (but will not be limited to):
Using personal security systems within the workplaceaccording to practice guidelines
Awareness of national standards of infection control andcleanliness and regulatory / contractual / professional requirements, and goodpractice guidelines
Providing advice on the correct and safe management of thespecimens process, including collection, labelling, handling, use of correctand clean containers, storage and transport arrangements
Correct personal use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE)and ensuring correct use of PPE by others, advising on appropriatecircumstances for use by clinicians, staff and patients.
Management of the full range of infection control proceduresin both routine and extraordinary circumstances (e.g. pandemic or individualinfectious circumstances)
Hand hygiene standards for self and others
Managing directly all incidents of accidental exposure
Management and advice relating to infection control andclinically based patient care protocols, and implementation of those protocolsacross the practice
Active observation of current working practices across thepractice in relation to infection control, cleanliness and related activities,ensuring that procedures are followed and weaknesses/training needs areidentified, escalating issues as appropriate to the responsible person
Identifying the risks involved in work activities andundertaking such activities in a way that manages those risks across clinicaland patient process
Making effective use of training to update knowledge andskills, and initiate and manage the training of others across the full range ofinfection control and patient processes
Monitoring practice facilities and equipment in relation toinfection control, ensuring that proper use is made of hand-cleansingfacilities, wipes etc., and that these are sufficient to ensure a good clinicalworking environment. Lack of facilities to be escalated as appropriate to theresponsible manager
Safe management of sharps use, storage and disposal
Maintenance of own clean working environment
Using appropriate infection control procedures, maintainingwork areas in a tidy, clean and sterile and safe way, free from hazards.Initiation of remedial / corrective action where needed or escalation toresponsible management
Actively identifying, reporting, and correcting health andsafety hazards and infection hazards immediately when recognised
Keeping own work areas and general/patient areas generallyclean, sterile, identifying issues and hazards/risks in relation to other workareas within the business, and assuming responsibility in the maintenance ofgeneral standards of cleanliness across the business in consultation (whereappropriate) with responsible managers
Undertaking periodic infection control training (minimumtwice annually)
Correct waste and instrument management, including handling,segregation, and container use

Person Specification
Qualifications
* * Be qualified as a General Practitioner
* * DBS clearance.
* * A medical practitioner whose name is included in the General Practitioner register and not subject to a suspension.
* * Currently on the performers list and not suspended from that list of the medical register.
* * Have had an annual NHS appraisal.
* * Good time management skills, punctual and able to manage and prioritise workload.
* * Evidence of further postgraduate educational activities in relevant fields.
* * A good understanding of GMS contract requirements and operations of QOF and enhanced services.
* * Familiar with EmisWeb.
* * Ability to contribute effectively to team meetings
* * Experience and interest in medical education within a primary care
* Setting, preferably a qualified trainer or willing to become a GP trainer
