Job Summary
The Directorate of Neurosciences in Newcastle has an international reputation as a provider of Neurosciences services. We provide a comprehensive service for a population of around 3 million throughout the North East and Cumbria. You will provide a comprehensive and efficient administrational service within Neurosciences. You should be able to integrate well with the existing team, be flexible in supporting the functions of the unit and have a genuine desire to contribute to providing a quality service for patients.
We are looking for a reliable and hardworking Clerical Officer to join our Neurology team to provide administrational support to a team of Clinical Administrators and Medical Secretaries, working together to provide an efficient and quality service to a complex patient group. You will work alongside other Clerical Officers, Administrators and Secretaries carrying out duties which will include data entry, communication, clinical and non‑clinical typing, proofreading, use of the hospital patient administration system, and co‑ordination of patient records/test results, co‑ordination of outpatient clinics amongst other general office duties.

Job Responsibilities
* Working within a team of administrative staff supporting the provision of efficient secretarial support to Consultants, Junior Medical Staff and other clinical staff within their team, i.e. Specialist Nurses.
* Deal with telephone enquiries promptly.
* Communicate with other departments within the Trust regarding appointments and admissions at the request of medical staff.
* Cover admin posts Trust wide as required.
Essential Qualifications
* Educated to GCSE standard, including English language.
Essential Knowledge & Experience
* Computer literacy.
Desirable Qualifications
* Familiar with Microsoft Office packages.
* PAS/RIS/PACS experience.
* NHS clerical experience.
* Knowledge of NuTH software packages.
Essential Skills & Abilities
* Good written and verbal communication skills.
* Ability to prioritise workload and manage time effectively.
* Ability to work unsupervised.
Desirable Skills & Abilities
* Keyboard skills with sound knowledge of computers.
