General Job Function:
* The delivery of the Westinghouse UK Fuel Growth Program is essential to the future nuclear fuel products for all current and future reactor types and is a fundamental part of the UK Government’s Nuclear Roadmap and Net Zero 2050 commitment. The portfolio is fundamental to the Westinghouse UK Fuel long-term strategy and essential for the growth of Springfields Fuels site.
* We are looking for a motivated and enthusiastic professional to join our project team as a Senior Project Manager. The role will be varied and wide ranging with the successful candidate supporting a diverse portfolio of projects in operational production plant, laboratory, and site infrastructure support areas. Responsibilities include business planning, bidding, delivery, and contract closure.
* The UK Fuel Business Unit is a dynamic and rapidly growing organization focused on winning fuel contracts for current reactor fuel types (PWR) and future generations (Gen4+). The department has expertise across all current fuel types and intermediate products. Developing fuel routes at Springfields and securing contracts is the primary focus.
* The Senior Project Manager shall be accountable to the UK Fuel Business Unit Portfolio Manager for all project phases from bid, sanction, implementation, to closeout and lessons learned. Projects are complex, multi-disciplined, involving conceptual and detailed design, procurement, construction, and commissioning. Managing safety, time, cost, and quality from initiation to closeout is essential.
* This role requires broad knowledge across product manufacturing, engineering, and nuclear science disciplines. Strong analytical, decision-making, and stakeholder management skills are essential.
* The Senior Project Manager will interface with Westinghouse’s customers and senior stakeholders, ensuring project delivery in compliance with company and customer requirements.
* The role may involve both client and contractor project management responsibilities depending on the project and contracting model.
Duties and Responsibilities:
* Coordinate and deliver full project lifecycle from feasibility to outcome realization.
* Manage project teams, develop plans, allocate resources, and manage risks to deliver outcomes safely, economically, and efficiently.
* Engage stakeholders to achieve project objectives within time, cost, and quality constraints.
* Handle multiple projects in parallel, balancing priorities with ongoing business and operational needs.
* Apply leadership strategies to address cultural and people issues during change implementation.
* Identify, evaluate, and manage risks and opportunities.
* Facilitate team appointments and engage functional managers to meet project skills requirements.
* Ensure projects are staffed with qualified personnel and comply with Westinghouse procedures.
* Take responsibility and be proactive as the driving force behind project plans.
* Provide mentoring and training for less experienced project professionals and ensure policies and procedures are followed.
* Review customer offers, including scope, risk, assumptions, and costs.
* Lead post-contract project delivery, including handover of key requirements and deliverables.
* Lead problem-solving activities, seek innovative solutions, and conduct option studies.
* Ensure effective reporting up to senior management and compliance with procedures.
Education, Qualifications, Skills, and Competencies:
* Professional qualification in project management, project controls, scientific, or engineering discipline to BEng level.
* Minimum 5 years of experience as a project manager in a high-complexity, regulated environment.
* At least 5 additional years managing full lifecycle projects, from business case to benefits realization.
* Strong commercial experience managing large vendors or service providers.
* Knowledge of CDM and NEC4 contracts.
* Understanding of UK regulatory bodies and delivering change within a nuclear licensed site.
* Good knowledge of budgeting and resource allocation procedures.
* Leadership competencies in planning, controlling, and risk management within complex projects.
