Service Overview
The Breast Imaging Unit operates across Furness General Hospital, Royal Lancaster Infirmary and Westmorland General Hospital, alongside mobile screening units. Recent investment has enhanced our digital mammography, ultrasound systems and SECTRA PACS. The screening programme is high performing with excellent uptake and patient feedback.

About Us
We operate from three main hospitals – Furness General Hospital (FGH) in Barrow, the Royal Lancaster Infirmary (RLI) and Westmorland General Hospital (WGH) in Kendal, along with community health premises including Millom Hospital and GP Practice, Queen Victoria Hospital in Morecambe, and Ulverston Community Health Centre.

Job Responsibilities

Person Specification
Essential
* MB ChB (or equivalent)
* FRCR (or equivalent)
* On the GMC specialist register for Clinical Radiology with a current license to practice
* Fellowship or additional training in Breast Imaging
* Five years supervised training in an appropriate SpR‑equivalent programme
* Broad radiology skills – plain film, US, CT and MR
* Experience in breast screening and QA processes
* Leadership experience or training relevant to screening programme management
Desirable
* Teaching or training qualifications
* Experience of teaching clinical skills
* Computer‐, PACS and VR software literate
* Experience of supervising trainees
* Publications of audit results and research in peer‑reviewed journals
* Participation in clinical or laboratory research projects
* UK professional registration
