Role Overview:
We are looking for a technically proficient and detail-driven Technical Contracts Engineer to join our team in Brownhills. This role is central to the successful coordination of project contracts from enquiry through to delivery ensuring that technical, commercial, and scheduling requirements are met. They shall advise on manufacturing processes and advise on engineering technical queries. The ideal candidate will have a solid engineering background, strong mathematical and communication abilities.
Key Responsibilities:
* Receive and process project enquiries.
* Break down enquiries into materials, labour, consumables, and tooling requirements.
* Collaborate with other departments to gather information for accurate quotations.
* Formulate quotations and estimate man-hours.
* Receive and process client purchase orders.
* Raise internal purchase orders for materials and subcontracted services.
* Review project budgets and monitor ongoing expenditure.
* Create detailed work packages for the shop floor.
* Distribute project documentation to relevant departments.
* Liaise with QA and Production to ensure the project is progressing as planned.
* Monitor, report, and record contract performance and milestones.
* Follow up on previous quotations to obtain client feedback.
* Prepare dispatch and invoicing documentation.
* Provide technical assistance and clarification throughout the contract lifecycle.
* Design and support the development of bespoke jigs and fixtures.
* Assist in introducing and applying new machinery and equipment into the production process.
Requirements:
* Minimum 3 years of experience in an engineering or technical environment.
* Level 3 or higher engineering qualification (or equivalent experience).
* Strong understanding of engineering principles.
* Practical knowledge and application of trigonometry in engineering tasks.
* Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and specifications.
* Strong communication and organisational skills.
* Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite.
* Ability to use 2D CAD software.
Due to the nature of the work and security clearance requirements set by the UK Government, this role is only open to British nationals who are eligible for security vetting under the relevant national security guidelines.
