The Role
We are looking for an enthusiastic and driven Hire Desk Manager to lead the day-to-day operations of our busy hire desk. In this fast-paced and dynamic environment, you will play a key role in ensuring the smooth and efficient running of the hire desk, making a significant contribution to the overall success of the business.
The Key Responsibilities
* Oversee the day-to-day management of a busy hire desk, ensuring the highest level of customer satisfaction.
* Coordinate hire desk activities, including managing a busy diary, scheduling hires, allocating crane drivers and personnel to hires, and managing resources within a timely fashion.
* Maintain accurate records of crane and personnel availability and hire transactions.
* Process orders and quotations via the booking system.
* Develop and implement strategies to improve operational efficiency and customer service.
* Work closely with the Office / Administration Manager, to streamline processes and communications.
* Consult with clients to ensure repeat business and maximise sales opportunities.
* Liaise with site surveys regarding appointment, lift plans and risk assessments.
* Coordinate vehicle bookings with the yard and transport team, ensuring availability and schedules align with the required specifications and timing required by the client.
* Arrange necessary equipment (tackle), collaborate with the yard to prepare and allocate the appropriate equipment for the hire, confirming details in advance to avoid delays.
* Train, supervise, and mentor hire desk staff to achieve their full potential.
* Resolve customer enquiries and complaints in a professional and timely manner.
* Collaborate with other departments and cross hire company to ensure seamless operations.
* Approve annual leave and absence management.

* Previous experience in a hire desk management or similar role
* Strong leadership and team management skills
* Excellent organisational and multitasking abilities
* Exceptional communication and people skills
* Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines
