Roles/ResponsibilitiesDevelop and refine formulations for metalworking fluids and other industrial lubricant systemsDesign and optimise emulsion systems, corrosion protection packages, and additive treat ratesConduct laboratory testing and interpret analytical data including FTIR, ICP, viscosity, and stability analysisScale laboratory formulations into full manufacturing production processesWork closely with blending and manufacturing teams to troubleshoot production issues and optimise processesSupport customer trials and application testing within industrial environmentsAssist with technical documentation including regulatory support, REACH compliance, and SDS preparationContribute to continuous improvement of existing formulations and product performance
QualificationsDegree or HND in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, or a related scientific discipline preferredApproximately 3–8 years of experience in formulation chemistryExperience working with emulsion systems, additives, or complex industrial fluid formulationsBackgrounds in industrial lubricants, metalworking fluids, surfactant chemistry, coatings, or specialty industrial chemicals are highly relevantExperience supporting scale-up from laboratory development to full manufacturing productionFamiliarity with analytical techniques used in chemical or lubricant testing environments is advantageousComfortable working in a manufacturing-focused technical environment and collaborating with operations teamsBenefitsCompetitive salary package (£40,000 – £60,000 depending on experience)Opportunity to work across the full lifecycle of industrial fluid developmentClose collaboration with production, commercial, and customer-facing teamsHigh level of autonomy within formulation and technical development workOpportunity to expand technical responsibility as the product portfolio grows
