Benenden School is seeking an outstanding and enthusiastic Teacher of PE or Coach to join our successful and thriving sports department on a full-time basis.
Reporting to the Director of Sport, you will deliver high-quality teaching or coaching to students via lessons, regular clubs or fixtures. You will work closely with Housemistresses/Masters and Tutors to support your students’ overall sporting development. You will help students to build a positive identity with sport or physical activity and foster a sense of belonging with that sport, regardless of their background or abilities.
We are looking for an enthusiastic and engaging Teacher or Coach, with a demonstrable passion for sport and physical education. You will ideally possess previous experience of teaching academic PE at GCSE and A-level, along with the ability to coach at least one other major sport to a high level, such as Netball, Football, Lacrosse or Badminton. For the right candidate, there is potential for responsibility for Hockey, Cricket, or Tennis.

About the Sports Department
Benenden School offers a huge variety of sport and exercise activities, with PE being compulsory throughout the school. Lacrosse, Hockey, Netball, Cricket, and Tennis feature as the main sports. We have access to fantastic sport facilities, ranging from a state-of-the-art floodlit astro turf with grandstand seating and pavilion, an indoor heated swimming pool, a fully equipped fitness suite, a gymnastics and trampolining hall, squash courts, floodlit tennis and netball courts, a sports hall with indoor cricket nets and extensive grass pitches.
Benenden is one of the leading day and boarding schools in Britain. We were founded in 1923 and are situated in 250 acres of attractive parkland in Kent. There are 550 girls in the school, aged 11-18, with 190 of those in the Sixth Form. Benenden is at the forefront of girls’ education in the UK, with recent innovations including the Benenden Diploma, a bespoke curriculum for our youngest two-year groups, and the Professional Skills Programme, teaching the Sixth Form skills for the workplace.
Benenden offers its own generous pay structure, responsibility allowances and benefits. Staff are provided with meals whilst on duty. The school’s leisure facilities, including wonderful grounds, a fitness gym and swimming pool are also available for staff to use.
