Mainstream Teaching Assistant – Additional Learning Needs (ALN) Location: Caerleon, South Wales Start Date: ASAP Hours: Monday-Friday, 08:30 – 15:00 (Term Time Only) Contract legth: rest of the academic year About the Role We are currently recruiting a Mainstream Teaching Assistant to support students with Additional Learning Needs (ALN) in a welcoming and inclusive secondary school in Newport, South Wales. This role is based in a mainstream classroom setting, providing 1:1 and small group support to pupils with a range of additional needs. It is an excellent opportunity for an experienced Teaching Assistant or someone looking to further develop their career in SEN/ALN education. Students you will support may have: Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) Global Developmental Delay Prader-Willi Syndrome Key Responsibilities As a Teaching Assistant, you will: Support the class teacher in delivering inclusive and engaging lessons Provide tailored academic, emotional, and behavioural support to pupils with ALN Assist with the implementation of Individual Education Plans (IEPs) and behaviour strategies Promote student independence, confidence, and classroom engagement Build positive relationships with pupils, school staff, and parents/carers Contribute to a safe, nurturing, and inclusive learning environment Person Specification We are looking for a Teaching Assistant who: Has experience supporting children or young people with additional learning needs Has knowledge of ASD, ADHD, or complex needs (desirable) Demonstrates a calm, patient, and nurturing approach Has strong communication and teamwork skills Is passionate about inclusive education Holds a Level 2 or Level 3 Teaching Assistant qualification (or is willing to work towards one) Essential Requirements To be considered for this role, you must: Have the right to work in the UK Hold or obtain a DBS certificate (we can help you with this) Be registered with the Education Workforce Council (we can help you with this) Provide two professional references covering the last 24 months Why Work with Teaching Personnel?
