Interim Finance Lead
Day rate: £450 per day inside IR35
Contract: Part-time, 2 days per week
The Pubs Code Adjudicator (PCA) is seeking an experienced and motivated Finance Lead to shape the future of finance in a small, independent regulator operating at the heart of the tied pub sector in England and Wales.
This is a unique opportunity to lead a high-impact project that will define how the PCA fulfils its financial responsibilities going forward. Working closely with the Director of Business Management and Development, you will design and deliver a clear roadmap for embedding new internal financial regulations and strengthening financial governance in line with Managing Public Money requirements.
.
You will oversee the full financial cycle, from strategic financial planning and in-year budget monitoring to supporting the preparation of the annual report and accounts. A key focus will be ensuring that policies, processes and controls are robust, clearly documented and future-proofed. You will also identify and mitigate financial risks, develop a comprehensive risk register and implement a business continuity plan for finance responsibilities.
This role is ideal for someone who enjoys working autonomously, thrives in a small organisation where flexibility is essential, and is keen to lead a defined project with tangible outcomes.
Alongside strengthening assurance and control mechanisms, you'll have the opportunity to drive meaningful improvements in how finance interacts with wider corporate functions.
We're looking for proven finance experience, strong interpersonal and influencing skills, and the ability to deliver at pace. A CCAB (or equivalent) qualification is desirable.
If you're ready to take ownership of a strategic finance project within an independent public body, we'd love to hear from you.
