Position Summary
The Logistics Operator is responsible for delivering efficient and accurate materials handling and stores operations in support of the business. This includes receiving, storing, moving, and dispatching materials in compliance with company policies, quality standards, and health and safety regulations.
The role plays a key part in maintaining the smooth flow of goods across the site while ensuring accuracy, traceability, and safety in all logistics activities.
General duties may include
* Follow all health, safety, and environmental procedures in line with company and legislative requirements.
* Ensure equipment is safe to use and calibrated correctly.
* Maintain a clean and orderly work area through regular housekeeping checks.
* Unload and load materials using appropriate lifting or handling equipment.
* Receive goods into stores, ensuring accurate identification and documentation.
* Label and record materials with correct receiving information.
* Store items securely in the designated locations and apply FIFO (First In, First Out) principles.
* Maintain real-time accuracy of all stock movements in the stock control system.
* Pick and issue materials to production in a timely and accurate manner.
* Track and manage items sent for repair, ensuring proper documentation and storage control.
* Monitor stock levels and report shortages or discrepancies promptly.
* Prepare and pack goods for shipment in line with customer or business requirements.
* Produce dispatch documentation accurately and on time.
* Work to required performance standards while maintaining a high level of accuracy and quality.
* Ensure materials are moved and handled in the most efficient and safe manner possible.
Person Profile/Experience:
* Experience in a stores, logistics, or warehouse environment
* Experience with dispatch activities (export knowledge advantageous)
* Forklift licence (or willingness to undertake training)
* Manual handling awareness and training
* Basic computer literacy with experience using stock control systems
* Good literacy and numeracy skills
* Physically fit and able to meet the demands of the role
* Reliable, flexible, and able to meet deadlines
* Strong attention to detail and accuracy
Desirable:
* Full UK driving licence (or willingness to train)
* Experience within an engineering or manufacturing environment
