Fabrication & Finishing Supervisor
Reporting to the Production Manager and responsible for co-ordinating work and
activities of staff in the section for the fabrication, welding and finishing of components as
specified in drawings and manufacturing work instructions. Employing good, safe and
efficient manufacturing practices for the timely completion of parts.
Key Responsibilities:
* As a working hand, fabricate, weld and finish components in line with engineering drawings and manufacturing instructions, deploying a wide range of skills in fabrication, welding and finishing. In addition as Supervisor:
* Be a positive role model for conduct and behaviour for the section.
* Provide technical leadership for staff in section in manufacture of components.
* Ensure drawn requirements are translated into manufactured components in the most efficient manner, in line with good engineering practices.
* Recommend opportunities for improvement in maintenance of and investment in tools and plant.
* Motivate staff to be willing, responsive and flexible to business driven needs.
* Set high quality standards and demonstrate leadership on Health & Safety and
* housekeeping for the section.
* Maintain a clean and orderly workplace environment compatible with an open workshop facility.
* Develop good team working within and across sections.
* Identify and resolve where possible, day to day issues arising, escalating as necessary.
* Manage tooling use, storage, condition and care for optimised section performance.
* Administrate as required in support of Quality & Production Control.
* Liaison with staff, other supervisors and line management to ensure parts are manufactured with optimum efficiency, and are made on time in line with the manufacturing orders.
* Help develop the section/business, and support improvement initiatives.
SKILLS & EXPERIENCE
* Fabrication and welding skills such as cutting, marking out, squaring off, bending etc.
* Proficient in using guillotine, rolls, brake press and hand tools as necessary.
* Welding using MIG, TIG and Manual Metal Arc. Weld to insurance standards
* BS5500:BS EN 286) with competence measured by in house testing.
* Manual cutting with Plasma and Flame cut methods.
* Previous supervisory / man management experience would be a distinct advantage.
SALARY & BENEFITS
Hourly rate £20-22/hr depending on experience. £40,560- £44,616
39hrs/week Monday to Thursday 07:00 – 16:00, Friday 07:00 – 12:00
Overtime when available time and a half
