Consultant - £40k-50k base - London, United Kingdom (hybrid)
A newly established and rapidly growing economic consultancy is seeking to expand its London-based team. The firm provides strategic economic advice, robust analytical support, and high-quality business case development to clients across both the public and private sectors.
With a focus on infrastructure, regeneration, and economic development, the organisation works on complex, high-impact projects that shape regional and national growth. The Role
This position sits within a growing economics team supporting the delivery of advisory work across infrastructure and development projects.
You will contribute to the preparation of detailed analytical outputs, including economic appraisals, business cases, and evaluation work. Depending on experience, you will take ownership of smaller assignments and support the delivery of larger, multi-stakeholder projects.
The role offers early exposure to clients, alongside the opportunity to gain insight into the operational and commercial aspects of building a consultancy.
Key Responsibilities
* Support the development of Green Book-compliant business cases for public sector funding
* Contribute to economic impact assessments and socio-economic analysis for planning applications
* Assist in delivering programme and project evaluations aligned with recognised appraisal frameworks
* Analyse and interpret complex datasets to produce clear, evidence-based insights
* Support project delivery, including timelines, stakeholder coordination, and reporting
* Collaborate with senior team members on high-profile infrastructure and regeneration projects
Key Skills
* Experience within economics, consulting, or a related analytical role
* Familiarity with appraisal frameworks such as Green Book, Magenta Book, or similar
* Strong quantitative and data analysis skills, including experience with relevant tools (e.g. GIS desirable)
* Excellent written and verbal communication skills
* Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple workstreams
* Academic background in economics or a related discipline
* Interest in economic development, infrastructure, and public policy
