We have an exciting opportunity working within both new and existing projects, creating bespoke, safe and cost-effective engineering solutions for our clients within the energy sector.
Optimus Plus are now looking for a Lead Structural Designer to join our engineering team on a full-time, employee basis. This role can be based in our office in Aberdeen or Glasgow on a flexible hybrid working model where 2 days per week can be worked remotely. An excellent salary + benefits package is available for the successful candidate.

Responsibilities
* Aids the project in creating schedules, time assignment and resource allocation
* Responsible for ensuring designs meet project requirements
* Input to project plans
* Identify areas of concern during any project or study
* Produce cost‑effective engineering solutions that are fit for purpose, safe and add value
* Ability to address operational and maintenance issues in the design and liaise with colleagues for the best solution
* Undertake surveys, both onshore and offshore
Qualifications & Experience
Our ideal candidate will enjoy team working, will be customer and quality focused, can use their own initiative and will be responsive to our business and client needs. You should also enjoy leadership and development of people through coaching and mentoring of others.
Experience of brownfield design work is preferred, as is knowledge of other CAD drafting tools such as Inventor 3D, Navisworks, PDMS, etc.
We’d like you to have a HND in a relevant subject and previous experience in detail design and design checking with an understanding of other disciplines. You need to be highly competent in the use of AutoDesk design products.
There will be the opportunity to work in other locations, both on and offshore so candidates may need to travel and hold the relevant certification to do so.
