Overview
Highly Specialist Family & Systemic Therapist role in the Children and Young People Eating Disorders Service (CYPEDS) for Cornwall and the Isles of Scilly. The post holder will work under the supervision of the Lead Systemic Family Psychotherapist for CYPEDS and provide supervision and support to family therapists and systemic practitioners. Travel to multiple sites within Cornwall is required and the role is supported by a wider multidisciplinary team.
This is a community-based role that requires frequent travel to various locations throughout the county, including areas not easily accessible by public transport. Successful candidates should describe how they will manage these travel requirements. This position is currently open only to people who already work for the NHS in Cornwall or the Isles of Scilly.
Main duties
* Provide leadership and delivery of family therapy and systemic principles to children, young people, and families within CYPEDS.
* Offer highly specialist family therapy alongside specialist advice, systemic supervision, and consultation on formulations and treatment to NHS colleagues and external agencies.
* Support clinicians in implementing the Maudsley model of treatment for eating disorders in line with NICE guidelines and best practice.
* Supervise trainees and systemic psychotherapists.
* Work autonomously within professional guidelines and the team’s policies and procedures.
* Contribute to CPD training and development of Cornwall Partnership Trust professionals as agreed with the Service Lead.
* Develop, implement, audit services for families, and participate in future service developments.

Essential qualifications and experience:
* Qualification in a relevant professional training (e.g., Nurse, Social Worker, Psychologist)
* Masters level qualification in Family Therapy with post-basic qualification and registered experience
* Postgraduate Masters/Doctoral level training in family therapy
* Eligibility for registration as a senior family therapist
* Evidence of supervision training
Desirable:
* Advanced keyboard skills
Essential experience:
* Experience as a family therapist with children in clinical or community settings
* Experience with young children and families with severe emotional/behavioural difficulties
* Experience with full clinical responsibility for clients’ psychological care within a multi-agency care plan
* Experience in teaching, training, and professional/clinical supervision
* Managerial or supervisory responsibilities
Desirable experience:
* Experience of working with Children and Young People in Care
* Experience of using technology in presentations
