Role Overview
To manage (with support from the Lead Pharmacy Technician – Clinical Trials) pharmacy aspects of clinical trials across all hospital sites within University Hospitals Dorset NHS Foundation Trust.
To supervise pharmacy assistants, Pre‑registration Trainee Pharmacy Technicians (PTPTs), Rotational Pharmacy Technicians and Trainee Pharmacists (TPs) working within pharmacy clinical trials.
Key Responsibilities
* Ensure all dispensed clinical trial drugs comply with UK legislation, MHRA regulations, national and local guidelines and practices.
* Ensure patients receive their therapy safely and in a timely manner.
* Conduct a feasibility review and assessment of any clinical trial involving pharmacy and share the results with the clinical trials team.
* Support the implementation of new services and regional and national initiatives, such as the HRA Technical Review and EDGE Trial Management System.
* Support the Lead Technician Clinical Trials to ensure the trials workload within the pharmacy is organised efficiently and timely, including advance planning.
* Develop the clinical trials service and work proactively to ensure smooth introduction of new products and systems.
* Participate in regular audits and reviews of clinical trials standards and processes relating to clinical trial practice and activity.
* Participate in issues relating to clinical trials governance.
