Job Description
To plan, implement, and supervise the provision of quality care in collaboration with People in our Care, ensuring they retain their dignity and individuality. Involves general activities within the Care Home / Unit.
Care Responsibilities
1. Maintain high standards of care by supporting People with all aspects of daily living.
2. Support training and supervise junior and new staff under senior staff guidance.
3. Assist People with physical, emotional, and spiritual care needs, ensuring comfort and dignity.
4. Help People with limited mobility or learning difficulties utilize aids effectively.
5. Monitor People who are confused or have behavioral issues.
6. Assist in promoting continence and care for those with progressive illnesses or nearing end of life.
7. Maintain accurate, individualized Care Plans reviewed monthly and biannually with external bodies.
8. Document all care activities at each shift's end, including charts on dietary intake and turns.
9. Participate in social activities, encouraging continued hobbies and interactions.
10. Respond to Nursecall system, answer calls, door, and phone promptly, passing messages as needed.
11. Report on People’s well-being, liaise with GPs and Support Managers.
12. Conduct regular checks on People as determined by senior staff.
13. Make visitors feel welcome, providing refreshments and assistance.
14. Make and change beds, keep rooms clean, and manage waste according to policies.
15. Maintain and clean equipment used by People and Relatives.
16. Care for People’s clothing and rooms, ensuring proper recording and marking.
17. Ensure privacy and dignity for dying and bereaved People, in line with policies.
18. Assist during meal times, considering dietary needs and swallowing difficulties.
19. Escort People for outings or hospital visits.
20. Practice integrity in handling personal and financial matters of People.
21. Assist with rearranging bedrooms, following safe handling techniques.
22. Dispense medication, recording all relevant information after completing the Safe Handling of Medicines course.
23. Conduct holistic assessments upon admission, covering nutritional, incontinence, and risk issues.
Communication and Training
* Participate in staff and client meetings.
* Liaise with multidisciplinary teams for medical care.
* Maintain professional knowledge, attend training, and pursue qualifications.
Health and Safety
* Report illnesses, accidents, hazards, and faulty equipment immediately.
* Implement health and safety policies, emergency procedures, and promote safe practices.
General Duties
* Promote the Care Home’s reputation and ensure confidentiality.
* Notify absences promptly and ensure security is maintained.
* Adhere to policies, maintain equipment, and perform any other reasonable tasks.
