BITMO is a tenant-managed organisation based in the heart of our community in Belle Isle, South Leeds. Working closely with Leeds City Council, we are responsible for managing their housing and estate services in the Belle Isle neighbourhood, made up of about 1800 council homes.
The caretaking team are one of the key BITMO services – like our walk in housing counter and our community centre – where we go beyond the services offered by most other landlords. Our caretakers are at the heart of the community – in people’s homes doing minor repairs, in people’s streets cutting back hedges and playing a central part in community events like the Belle Isle Gala.
As part of our small and dedicated caretaking team you will have a varied working week, depending on the season and what is needed. This will include:
1. Minor repairs like plumbing, joinery and decorating
2. Clearing empty homes
3. Cutting grass and hedges on communal gardens
4. Cleaning communal areas
5. Compliance inspections around the estate and in communal areas
6. Assessing risks and hazards and working out what repairs are needed
7. Delivering an excellent face-to-face daily customer service
You will work outdoors in all weather, makingsure work is completed to a high standard in a professional way, within agreed times. You will provide great customer service to our tenants.
You will also be part of a team responsible for setting up and being involved in our community events like the Belle Isle Gala, fun days, concerts and plays.
We will provide training to help develop your skills and the chance to gain qualifications.
