The value you'll add:
The role is a key part of the UK Finance team of HSBC Innovation Banking, reporting to the Chief Finance Officer (CFO) and involves supporting the CFO and the rest of the Finance Leadership Team (FLT) in the development of the strategy and the smooth day:to:day running of the finance function. The role will encompass both strategy and delivery across a broad range of responsibilities including; budget management, people strategy and communications, process enhancements, rolling out new ways of working and leading on key third party relationships for the Finance team. The role will also support the CFO in their role as a Director and member of the Board of HSBC Innovation Banking Ltd.
The role focuses on functional leadership, planning, coordination and delivery across the Finance organisation. It requires someone who is comfortable driving operational priorities, managing information flows and supporting strategic initiatives.
What you can expect to be doing:
Provide support to CFO and rest of the FLT.
Lead on Finance budget and FTE management.
In collaboration with the FLT, lead the development and mobilisation of effective ways of working, including the vision, goals, scope and outcomes and executing the training and communication plan.
Develop, embed and maintain the function's communication plan to provide information to the function and business on e.g. performance, initiatives, risk profile etc. Including devising and facilitating employee engagement opportunities, including Finance Town Halls and regular calls, and working with the FLT to develop action plans based on employee survey feedback.
Responsible for producing regular MI pack for the FLT that covers relevant areas of responsibility; e.g. budget, FTE, employee engagement plans etc. and highlights outstanding actions
Working alongside the Finance team (who have accountability for on papers for formal governance) support the CFO with the preparations of materials for committees, internal meetings, external events
Maintain the documentation for demonstrating the CFOs 'reasonable steps' taken to discharge their responsibilities
Collaboration with Business Performance Managers across HINV and the wider Group to develop, share and deliver good practice
In addition to the specific responsibilities outlines above, the role holder will support the CFO as needed more broadly, for example in relation to specific projects, briefings or operational matters
Requirements:
A sound understanding of the CFO's responsibilities and those of the wider Finance team and how these connect with wider HINV, HBUK and Group : this may also include; clients, products, competitive landscape, regulatory environment, and digitalisation/innovation trends with a focus on the Innovation economy.
Self:starter with the ability to use the understanding of the CFO's priorities to identify what is needed and to prioritise accordingly so they can act with day:to:day autonomy, while keeping the CFO / leadership team up to date
