Job Description
Position: Sous Chef
As Sous Chef, you’ll play a vital role in launching and supporting the leadership of a vibrant, multi-outlet kitchen operation at one of the region’s most exciting new destinations. Your responsibilities will include:
* Supporting the Head Chef in delivering the culinary vision across the Farmshop, Café Restaurant, Barista Coffee Bar, Playbarn Café, Concessions, and Events & Hospitality spaces
* Supervising and mentoring kitchen staff, ensuring high standards of food quality, safety, and hygiene are maintained at all times
* Managing daily kitchen operations, including food prep, stock rotation, allergen control, and assisting with supplier coordination
* Working closely with front-of-house and events teams to ensure smooth service for school visits, weddings, seasonal events, and private functions
* Maintaining consistency and efficiency across a logistically varied site, ensuring timely and high-quality food delivery
* Upholding food safety and hygiene standards, including compliance with HACCP procedures
* Contributing to menu development, bringing creativity and seasonal inspiration to the table
* Driving continuous improvement, offering ideas and feedback to enhance the food offering and kitchen operations
Qualifications
What We’re Looking For:
* Proven experience as a Sous Chef or Senior Chef de Partie in a high-volume, quality-focused environment
* A strong background in wedding and event catering—you know how to deliver under pressure and support seamless execution
* A track record of supporting, training, and motivating kitchen teams to maintain consistently high standards
* Financial awareness, with experience in food cost control, GP targets, stock management, and supplier coordination
* Excellent coaching and delegation skills—you lead by example and support the Head Chef in developing the team
* Highly organized, detail-oriented, and calm under pressure, especially during peak service
* An empathetic and effective communicator with a collaborative, solution-focused mindset
* Strong menu execution, planning, and problem-solving abilities
* Able to work weekends and evenings as required by the operation
